In this class\, 343 Labs instructor Keanu Reeves will demonstrate industry standard Pioneer DJ equipment and the DJ software Rekordbox. We’ll cover the basic skills you need to start collecting music\, building your playlist\, and practicing for the club. There are no prerequisites to joining\, we’ll meet you at the start of you DJ journey. \nDuring the event\, 343 Labs will be opening its doors for an Open House\, where attendees can tour the facilities\, learn about 343 Labs courses\, and meet some of the instructors. This is a great way to get a feel for the community and programs at 343 Labs\, meet fellow producers\, and ask any questions you may have about our school. \nAbout the artist: \nKeanu Raves\, the alias of Berlin-based Aotearoa techno stalwart Cameron Hoy\, has been making moves across the international underground since the project’s inception in 2018. Beginning with the establishment of Club Unique in his hometown of Ōtautahi (Christchurch\, NZ)\, he breathed new life in to the South Island’s techno and wider dance music scenes through a weekly radio show\, regular rave events\, and curating a record label featuring much of the city’s finest production talent. \nThis\, along with his distinct sound defined by Detroit-style grooves and reverb heavy chord stabs straight out of Berlin\, has seen the burgeoning producer release on the likes of HAVEN\, Diffuse Reality\, Mood Supplier\, Synapsa\, Rave Your Soul\, and Trau-ma – leading to support from the likes of Perc\, Robert Hood\, Bailey Ibbs\, Steve Bicknell\, Rebecca Della Piane and more. This workshop is designed for beginners\, or people who have produced with other software and are interested in getting started with Ableton. A Berklee College of Music graduate\, he has worked across hip-hop\, electronic\, pop\, and global music — with credits including The Who\, Jazzanova\, Jaykae\, and Shekhinah — and has contributed multiple commercial sample packs to Splice.\n \nAs both a guitarist who produces and a producer who plays guitar\, Owen has spent years solving the same problem his students face: getting guitar to sit right in a modern mix. That question is what led him to build Guitar Mix Toolkit Vol. 1 — a set of Ableton tools designed specifically for producers who play guitar. Born in Canada\, Alex now calls Berlin home\, where he works as Head of Community for 343 Labs. Alex’s creativity centers around live electronic performances combining Ableton Live\, MIDI controllers and hardware synths. \nHe performs and produces ambient techno under the solo moniker Alex Iso. With AV duo Static Channel\, Alex contributes bass guitar performance along with experimental electronica production to an immersive live performance and visual album releases. With Canadian collective Luxonus\, Alex co-creates multidisciplinary installation projects combining sound\, video\, LED lights and sculptural materials. Alex helps program events and curate Berlin collective Mindscape and Helsinki collective Pulse Index.
