Join an interstellar gathering uniting beings from across the universe to celebrate a vibrant fusion of music, art, and culture. Samples Music Festival champions and elevates innovative musical forms like turntablism, finger drumming, modular synthesis, and beat making.
For this edition of Samples, 343 Labs will present a series of DJ workshops with the theme High-Energy Mixing & Multi-Genre Set Design. In this workshop, Berlin-based DJ NΞØN BL∆CK offers an inside look at the preparation and performance of high-energy, multi-genre club sets for underground dance floors. The session begins with a live three-deck demonstration blending breakbeat, techno, club, and UK bass, followed by a focused breakdown of essential mixing and transition techniques. Participants will also gain insight into efficient Rekordbox library organization, set architecture, and the underlying philosophy of intuitive, in-the-moment track selection – essential skills for DJs looking to push creative boundaries in fast-paced club environments.
This DJ Workshop will run 19-20 July, 17:00 – 18:00 in Experience Room #6.
About the Presenter:
NΞØN BL∆CK is the cross-genre DJ and production project of Matthew Martinez, also known for his work in the darkpsy scene as Sentient Number Six. With a musical trajectory spanning acoustic folk, death metal, and experimental electronics, his practice reflects over a decade of integrative sonic exploration – bridging live instrumentation, intricate sound design, and a relentless curiosity for underground club forms.
Originally from the U.S. and now based in Berlin, Martinez began his journey into electronic music by DJing drum & bass and trance at small underground parties across the Northeastern U.S., gradually evolving toward full-spectrum production and embracing the abstract sonic extremities of darkpsy.
NΞØN BL∆CK serves as a platform for hybridized club expression, merging breakbeat-driven UK bass, hypnotic techno, and global club aesthetics into fast-paced, deeply curated dancefloor experiences. The project resists genre orthodoxy and aesthetic gatekeeping, favoring instead a philosophy of emotional intelligence, kinetic tension, and raw, communal energy. This is club music with intention and teeth: selected on instinct, mixed with speed, and always aimed at bodies in motion.
